FAQs

Please read our FAQs page to find out more.

Do I need an additional “fire-rated light” or separate fire hood?

No. This housing is fire-rated by design, so you don’t need a separate fire hood. Use the provided TP24 quick-link and follow the install/ sealing instructions (if required) so the assembly performs as intended.

What do IC Rated & Air Tight (ASTM E283) do for insulation and energy efficiency?

IC rating allows direct contact with insulation for safety. Air-tight construction limits air exchange and dust from the plenum, cutting drafts and supporting energy efficiency.

Is installation complicated? Do I need fire-caulk or extra fire-stopping?

The steps mirror standard housings: set hanger → make connections → board & cutout → fit trim/module. Fire-stopping or sealant use depends on local code/AHJ. Follow the manual and any required caulking for penetrations and gaps.

What does the 2-hour UL 263 fire rating actually mean?

UL 263 means the housing/cover resists fire exposure for 2 hours (up to ~1850°F). It’s intended to help maintain the fire rating of a properly designed ceiling assembly.
