    Do I need an additional fire hood or a separate “fire-rated” light?

    No extra hood is required. This slim recessed fixture is fire-rated by design. Follow the manual—including any required sealing—to ensure the assembly performs as intended.

    What do IC Rated & Air Tight (ASTM E283) do for me?

    IC rating allows direct contact with insulation, reducing overheating risk. Air-tight construction limits drafts and dust from the plenum, improving comfort and energy efficiency.

    Does being fire-rated and ultra-thin compromise brightness or lifespan?

    No. The aluminum ring and steel backplate manage heat effectively, while CRI 90 and 5CCT preserve visual quality. It’s rated for 50,000 hours of operation.

    Is installation difficult? Anything specific to watch for?

    It installs like other slim recessed lights: cut the opening, make J-box connections, and secure the fixture. Crucially, preserve the fire-rated construction and any required sealing—avoid oversizing the cutout or damaging fire barriers. Power off and follow local code.
