Retrofit™ Gimbal

FAQs

Please read our FAQs page to find out more.

I want to spotlight a painting without glare. Which model and beam settings should I use?

Use the eyeball gimbal and aim the 36° beam slightly off the viewer’s sightline. The 4" (9W, 700 lm) works well for small/medium art; the 6" (12W) with up to 350° rotation covers larger pieces or longer walls. Start ~24–36" from the wall for an even wash.

I’m replacing yellowed trims. Will the aluminum eyeball stay color-stable over time?

Yes. Both 4" and 6" use aluminum housings/trim that resist yellowing and improve heat dissipation compared with plastic trims, keeping the finish consistent.

Will the 4" eyeball fit standard 4" cans, and what connector does it use?

Yes. The 4" SA7 is for standard 4" housings and uses an E26 socket adapter (pull-apart male/female quick plug inside). It is triac-dimmable (10%–100%).

What’s the real difference between the 4" 9W and the 6" 12W kits for my project?

4": 9W/700 lm, tilt up to 30°, compact accent for small niches/art. 6": ~12W, up to ~350° rotation, more reach/aiming flexibility for larger walls, halls, or sloped ceilings. Both are 5CCT and triac-dimmable.
